Gluttony in a Pot

This dish is typically the favorite part of reunion dinner for me. Called basin vegetables (盆菜) in Mandarin, it contains an assortment of scallops, baby abalones, prawns, mussels, sea cucumbers, fish cakes, stewed pig's trotter, shiitake mushrooms and lotus roots, if I did not recall wrongly. The best part is really the sauce, a delicious rich brown base that makes all the ingredients taste sooo good.
